I want Moodle for my classroom.... now what?!
The first thing you need to do is log into your account. You will use the same username and password that you use to log into the computer as. Once you are logged in, you will have a button that allows you to create a new course.

Creating a new class on Moodle
Follow these directions to create a new class on the L'Anse Area Schools Moodle website:
Editing your Moodle Site
Before you can do anything to your site, you must ensure that you are logged-in and the "Turn Editing On" button is selected.
Setting up the layout of your site
One of the first things that you will want to decide when creating your Moodle site is how you would like to set it up. There are really two main options: weekly format and topics format. Choose which one is best for you and your courses!
When adjusting the initial settings, it is not a bad idea to ensure that your students can log into your course. All of our students have Moodle accounts, you just need to ensure that they can enroll in your courses. Do the following to check:
- Log into your Moodle and select a class
- In the lower right hand corner, choose "Settings" and find where it says "Users"
- Then chose "Enrollment Methods"
- Choose the hand holding the pencil to the right of "Self Enrollment - Student"
- Ensure that the second check box, "Allow Self Enrollments" is set to "Yes"
- You can also set a password if you would like and then when students click on your class to enroll they would have to know the password
- Choose "Save Changes" and your students should be set to enroll!
Adding General Announcements and Resources
This is the area at the top of your page that will show up on your course regardless of where the student is. I like to include announcements, useful websites, and my syllabus at the top.
Adding a Resource or Activity
Resources can consist of files, pages, URLs, etc. This is a great way to distribute materials to your students (Word documents, PDFs, websites, etc.).
Activities can consist of quizzes, assignments, discussions, etc.
